Pest control lives on contracts, not one off calls. That makes Google Maps ranking a customer acquisition engine that has to feed a retention machine behind it, and it changes how you should run the profile.
Ask for the review after the second visit
This is the trap in pest control. Ask on day one and the customer has not seen the result yet, because the ants get worse before they disappear. Ask after the follow up visit and the same customer writes a much better review. Review pace and quality are among the strongest levers you control in the local pack, so time the ask properly.
Seasonal searches need seasonal content
Termite swarms, mosquito season, rodents moving indoors in the first cold week, wasp nests in late summer. Publish profile posts that match what is actually happening this month. Recency signals a live business and the copy matches what people are typing right now.
Categories and services
Primary: Pest Control Service. Secondaries: Exterminator, Animal Control Service, Bee and Wasp Removal Service, Termite Inspection where it applies. Services list: general pest quarterly plan, termite inspection and treatment, mosquito reduction, rodent exclusion, bed bug treatment, wildlife removal, commercial accounts. Each with a short description referencing your area.
The lapsed customer list is your cheapest lead source
Every pest control company has a list of customers who quietly stopped two years ago. Reaching back out to them costs nothing and often outperforms new lead generation. It also produces fresh reviews, which feeds the ranking work.
Photos and proof
Photos of technicians, trucks, treatment work and the occasional dramatic nest are all fair game. Upload weekly. Faces build trust in a category where someone is entering the home.
See your real coverage with a heat map
Route density is profit in pest control, so the question is not just do I rank, it is do I rank where my routes already are. A ranking heat map plots your position across a grid of your service area, so you can push visibility toward the neighbourhoods where an extra account costs you almost no drive time.
